Limited Edition Pens | White Ray
Pelikan Souverän M1000 Raden White Ray
Raden is a traditional Japanese decorative technique. By inlaying thin layers of mother of pearl onto the surface of the fountain pen, the craftsman creates a unique and distinctive striped fountain pen, and the characteristics of the finish item are created. Because of this process every pen is truly unique. The first step to create the fountain pen is to use Japanese Urushi lacquer to give the surface of the pen a rich deep black finish. Then the pearlised 'white ray' stripes are created with pieces of mother of pearl. In the next steps the stripes are fixed to the cap and barrel by a coating of lacquer and polished by hand to attain the desired finish. Finally the craftsman signs and numbers each fountain pen. The M1000 Raden White Ray comes in a traditional Japanese gift box which is made of Paulownia wood. This limited edition pen is a numbered edition of 400. Each fountain pen has an 18k two tone nib. Pelikan is to offer this new limited edition fountain pen from September 2021.
