Pelikan Souverän Raden Red Infinity Fountain Pen
Raden is a traditional Japanese decorative technique. Working with pieces of Australian abalone shell the craftsperson creates a unique and distinctive striped fountain pen which is an impressive piece of art. Each pen is crafted by hand and is truly unique. Occasionally Pelikan applies this Japanese decorative craft to a limited number of its M1000 Souverän fountain pens. The first step in creating the Pelikan Raden Red Infinity is to give the surface a red colour by using a Japanese Urushi lacquer. Then by the careful use of silver powder the pen barrel begins to sparkle when rotated and reflecting the light. The rectangular stripes are made with pieces of mother of pearl shell. In the next step the stripes are fixed to the cap and barrel with several coats of lacquer. Finally the master artist individually signs and numbers each fountain pen by using the Maki-e technique. The Pelikan Raden M1000 Red Infinity fountain pen is a work of art when finished and is fitted with a large 18k gold nib. Each fountain pen comes in a Paulownia wood gift box which also contains a booklet and numbered certificate.
