Parker Desk Accessories by The Silver Crane Company
From what we can determine The Silver Crane Company was trading from an address in Suckley, Worcestershire, from the early 1980s until circa 1993, when the company then appears to have been sold as a going concern and went on to trade from an address in Ringwod, Hampshire. When first formed the company seems to have trading in decorative tinware and ceramic giftware, but after being sold on it now appears to specialise solely in tinware products, mainly novelty shaped and figural gift packaging containers in tin. Below is an extract from the London Gazette refering to The Silver Crane Company being awarded the Queen's award for exports in 1987. We have also imaged several examples of the ceramic giftware they were producing at the time of receiving the award and that must have formed part of the mix of products that they were both selling domestically and exporting. A Hobbs Welch Design and the designer Les Rayner have both been credited with designing items for The Silver Crane Company, with many items being produced and distributed under licence.
